The objective of this study was to study if the mussel Mytilus galloprovincialis could feeding on organic material from residual water of a hatchery with fishes and cephalopods without consequences for the mussel survival and condition. The mussels were maintained during 3 months and an initial sample of condition index and gonadal development were made. Survival was measured every day and total value was 90 %. The condition index was stable the first two months but it fell down the last one. Finally water was filtered at the entry and exit of the tank to value the material organic content and it ranged between 30 and 1.2 g. Then mussels can be use to improve water quality in hatchery without affecting animal condition. This work was suppor...
