Agile methods to create web based applications

Includes bibliographical references (leaves 45-46)In the present business world, organizations must have the ability to react to ever changing requirements of the customers. This thesis studies the agility of various organizations in the state of New Jersey while concentrating on three important agile methods: Test Driven Development, Scrum, and Extreme Programming. The thesis also identifies criteria required for being agile. These crite1ia are identified based on a set of questions which will be sent to 10 companies in the state of New Jersey. Depending on the response received from the participants, the results are analyzed and inferences are made on areas of improvement, and factors to be considered when moving from traditional software development methods to agile methods. Agility can be defined based on the four identified categories: Ability to Adapt, Exchange of Ideas, Value of Product, and Proficiency in Learning. This thesis examines these four categories and also depicts that the participating organizations are on the correct path, as the participants are prepared to work using agile methods. More importance should be given to the interaction between the developers and the customers. All the organizations do give importance to testing their code, but they should also give importance to automated testing. Testing should be integrated along with the development phase.
