Includes bibliographical references (leaves 39-42)The purpose of this project is to develop a Newcomer Adjustment Suppmt Group Curriculum for Latino High School students who are having difficulty adjusting to the U.S. educational system. This curriculum will allow bilingual school staff including counselors, teachers, and school psychologists to facilitate a peer support group that will educate newcomers on the process of acculturation, helps them navigate the U.S. school system, and inform them of the resources available to them and their family within the school system and in the community. It will also provide them with a network of social and emotional support through the support group, a peer mentoring relationship and a parent/caretak...
