Includes bibliographical references (leaf 45)Two dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models were developed to predict the loss coefficients for sharp edged combining tees (two inlets and one outlet) using a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) code (Fluent/ Gambit). The models were developed for the three different T-junctions with the area ratio of unity. Another model was developed with the area ratio of 11.44 to verify the effect of area ratio on the loss coefficient. The predicted results from the CFD analysis were then compared with the published experimental results. The results agree closely with the theoretical values and proved to be a good means of comparing experimental and CFD data
