Linking spiritual dogmas: Educating today's helpers to implement Judaism and 12-steps into the recovery process

Includes bibliographical references (leaves 53-58)This Master's Graduate Project is based on the principles of Judaism and the 12-steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and how incorporating these two entities can be conducive to addiction recovery. The goal of the project is to create a seminar/workshop to serve as a purpose to marriage family therapists, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, addiction counselors, and helpers everywhere in order to find new meaning in Alcoholics Anonymous beyond Christianity and new meaning in Judaism beyond religion but with spirituality. By incorporating Judaism and the 12-step philosophy into recovery, the objective is to seal the integrity gap that lies within addicts and for addicts to be able to identify their "split" between their light and dark side (Blakeney, Blakeney, & Reich, 2005, p. 67). Additionally, this project looks at the similarities that exist within the Old Testament (Torah) and the Big Book (Alcoholics Anonymous text) in order to correlate the two programs for its current Jewish members to find deeper significant influence. Finally, information and resources are followed for family of addicts or those seeking treatment in order to provide help to those in need
