The Relationship Between Model Reinforcement Counseling and Career Development Behaviors

30 9th grade male counselees were randomly assigned\ud to three treatments: (a) model reinforcement counseling\ud consisting of a tape recording of a male counselee played\ud to each student prior to reinforcement counseling, (b)\ud reinforcement counseling consisting of positively reinforcing\ud information-seeking, deliberation and decision-making\ud behaviors, and (c) control. All experimental groups\ud were given a pretest-posttest consisting of a previously\ud developed instrument for measuring occupational prestige\ud rankings. It was found that there were no statistically\ud significant differences between intergroup r correlations\ud or each group's r correlation with the criterion (the\ud extracted National Opinion Research Center study) . Evidence\ud suggested that the test instrument might not be a valid\ud measure of changed self and occupational perceptions as\ud related to career development. Further research developing\ud measurement techniques would be justified
