Effective form of lower management in a Los Angeles County department

Management is typically defined as the process of using resources to achieve organizational objectives and goals. Our world is changing, and management is changing with it. Managers and supervisors have to keep up with these changes and adapt new strategies of approaching their employees. As managers and supervisors we need to create and provide a climate in which the subordinates are encouraged to make their own analyses of the problems, suggest solutions, and participate in decision making. The supervisor is the vital link between the quality of a product and an effective work force. To establish an effective work force, the supervisor must be able to gain the respect of the people who work for them. A good supervisor will relate fairly and equally to his or her subordinates and help them to improve their skills. Optimal supervision includes the development of a strong, supportive, performance motivating relationship with your subordinate. The goal is to build a relationship that your subordinate feels that they are being treated with encouragement and respect. A relationship in which you constructively address weak performances and sincerely praise positive performances. A relationship in which employees' attitudes toward their jobs and organization clearly reflects their supervisor's attitudes toward them. The purpose of this study is to define and utilize the term effectiveness as how well do supervisors communicate, motivate, praise, handle conflicts with their subordinates. This research will analyze the effectiveness of the supervisor-subordinate relationship in two different districts of the Los Angles County Department of Public Social Services. It will examine how the subordinates based on their age, and educational backgrounds perceive their supervisors. This includes the many roles they play such as motivators, communicators, listeners, and explainers of tasks, acknowledgers of employee opinions, encouragers of teamwork, positive criticizers, appreciators, and individuals capable of handling conflicts in the most appropriate manner. In this research paper, the organizational structure, different styles, effective skills of supervision, and the utilized methodology will also be discussed. However, the main focus will be on the supervisor-subordinate relationship in the particular districts mentioned above based on the aforementioned issues. Finally, the recommendations for further improvements will be suggested based on the findings of the present study
