Using the other-worldly settings of televised speculative fiction (i.e., science fiction, fantasy, and horror), my project will explore how different fictional societies create disability in relation to race and gender in the articulation of disabled subjectivities. While disability studies has thoughtfully considered the dual oppression of disabled women, disabled men's relationships to privilege and oppression have received comparatively minimal attention. My project aims to fill this gap by examining disabled masculinities at the crossroads of race, gender, and disability through analyzing depictions of disabled men in the series Farscape, Grimm, and Penny Dreadful
