Efficacy of group intervention in conjunction with individual counseling for adult women survivors of sexual abuse

SA crosses socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic groups, although the coping styles resulting form this trauma may be manifested in different styles. Many survivors exhibit shame, guilt, and "feeling dirty" throughout the sexual assault experience. A review of the literature highlights that clinicians are not adequately equipped in assessing trauma resulting from SA. Therefore, this project aims to provide clinicians/psychotherapists guidelines and promotes the adoption of a group format when working with SA survivors. This miicle reviews empirical evidence for the effectiveness of processing groups on psychological distress experienced by SA survivors. Moreover, detailed instructions, delineated by weekly sessions, as well as providing treatment suggestions to clinicians. In Smmnary this project is intended to reveal the efficacy of group intervention in conjunction with individual counseling for adult women survivors of sexual assault
