Handel???s most popular recitatives and arias. The text of the recitative is captured in a tender vocal line which is supported by a pulsing, chordal accompaniment. Text painting is employed in an ascending coloratura line at the text, Every valley shall be exalted. Singers and audiences alike find this to be an exciting piece. Three Italian songs by Stefano Donaudy and Francesco Paolo Tosti have long been popular with operatic tenors because they are quite operatic. O del mio amato ben, has long exquisite melody line and flowing accompaniment which is sweet and melancholic. In this song, the phrase, con pieno il cor ??? ma senza lei che far, is the climax which is full of dramatic beauty. The sixteenth note accompaniment pattern in, La Serenata captures the meaning of the text as the speaker commands his songs to ???fly??? to the beloved.
