European-American identified students (N =22) participated in an in-lab study where they\ud chatted online about a race-related topic with a fictitious African-American identified or\ud European-American-identified partner. Consistent with previous research on face-to-face\ud interpersonal interactions, participants in the same-race condition self-reported higher\ud ratings of comfort with their interaction partner. There were no differences between\ud independent coders??? ratings of participants??? non-verbal anxiety in the same race and\ud different race conditions.
