Includes bibliographical references (page 37)In the last 15 years, the need for distributed data\ud processing has been the major issue in the world of computing\ud machinery. A layer structured reference model for networking was\ud developed a few years ago by the International Standards Organization\ud (ISO) Open Systems Interconnect (OSI). This model served as the\ud skeleton for UULAN development. The purpose of this thesis\ud is to demonstrate the powerful techniques the ISO model offers to\ud software developers and the independence of such developed software\ud from hardware architecture
