This fifth annual Cooperative Pole Research Program report\ud outlines our progress in the six project objectives.\ud Improved Fumigants\ud Sampling of previously established field tests revealed that\ud Vorlex and Chloropicrin continued to perform well after 15 years,\ud while Vapam was slightly less effective. Solid methylisothiocyanate\ud (MIT) also performed well in the field after 7 years. In additional\ud tests, gelatin encapsulated MIT migrated through Douglas-fir heartwood\ud with addition of moderate quantities of water to degrade the gelatin.\ud However, in the presence of higher quantities of water or no\ud additional water, MIT migration into the wood was slowed.
