Development and use of a computer program for teaching metric units

Includes bibliographical references (pages 60-61)This project discusses the development and use of a computer program for teaching the metric system. The program ???EASY METRIC??? was developed to introduce the metric system???s basic measurement units, common prefixes and symbols to the junior high school student. A brief history of the metric system, basic concepts used in the system, and textbook review are discussed. A sample metric teaching unit is presented along with techniques/activities to use. Development of the program, instructional design techniques and a run through the program are also explained. The project describes the structure of the CAI program ???EAST METRIC???, presents a summary of classroom use, student comments, and includes a teacher???s manual with worksheets.\ud The project is a complete unit that analyzes programming methods, course content, instructor presentation and technological advances when teaching metric measurement
