Psychology Annual Assessment Report to the College 2013-2014

Describes the Psychology Department's assessment activities for the academic year 2013-2014.The Psychology Department annual assessment report to the College for the Office of Academic Assessment. The department directly assessed SLOs 1 and 10 through 42 question knowledge surveys given in PSY 150, 320, and 400 level capstone courses. Some 1600 students completed the surveys. Analysis of the data reveal that ???students in Capstones had significantly greater knowledge than students in PSY 320 and PSY 150,??? and ???students in PSY 320 had significantly greater knowledge than PSY 150,??? leading to the conclusion that ???as students progress in the major, they gained significantly more knowledge about psychology, career/professional development, and ethics.??? In addition, the department developed a document on required concepts for the study of research methods, in response to previous years??? assessments, which has been distributed to all faculty teaching the research methods course
