The independent variables were presence or absence of VTR equipment during speaking and the time of the semester that the testing was done.\ud Subjects were randomly assigned to one of four experimental conditions (early in semester/no VTR, early in semester/VTR present, late in semester/no VTR, late in semester/VTR present).
