This study is a language analysis of mathematics\ud teacher perspectives of minority and female students. The\ud research examines teacher perspectives as they influence\ud those teachers' expectations for the mathematics achievement\ud of their students.\ud A review of literature considers the notion of self-fulfilling\ud prophecy, the bases of teacher expectations and\ud how teacher behaviors influence students. This participatory\ud research methodology focuses on discourse as the means\ud to uncover the participants' views.
