Includes bibliographical references (page 39)A comparison of the SIMPLER and PISO algorithms for incompressible fluid and steady state Navier-Stokes equation is presented. Th steady flow in a square cavity with a moving lid is calculated for Reynolds numbers of 100, 400 and 1000. The staggered control-volume formulation is employed for the discretization equations in both algorithms. Consistent results were obtained for both velocity and pressure fields. The PISO algorithm required more SRU (System Resource Unit) time to obtain the converged solution. The convergence speed is affected by the values of relaxation factors in PISO algorithm
