This thesis examines the current role of digital collections in museums, including the\ud development, management, preservation, and accessibility of digital collections. Through a\ud literature review and survey of content experts, museum policies and practices for digital\ud collections are explored. The survey results demonstrate the lack of policies on digital collections\ud in museums and the limited resources of museums to participate in digital collections projects. By\ud integrating practices and policies for digital collections into museum operations, museums will\ud improve the sustainability of their digital resources. Finally, recommendations on improving\ud museum practices for digital collections are presented
