This research is a study of the Chicano Movement in San Jose, California of the late 1960???s and early 1970???s. It examines previously established leadership, networks and political infrastructure that gave guidance and direction to United People Arriba and the Community Alert Patrol, two\ud of San Jose???s most influential grassroots Chicano-led organizations. I use oral histories,\ud movement and popular newspapers, university archives, and government documents. Using a\ud case study approach, this study focuses on their struggles toward educational justice and\ud community control of police.
