Desirable personal and professional qualities of high school physical education department head

Because of the increased responsibilities of the physical education and/or athletic director, it stands to reason that the individuals selected for these positions have the imagination, creativity and leadership to interface with the new challenges as well as the conventional requirements. Since the most recent study published on the subject of personal and professional qualities desired by administrators of secondary school physical education directors was conducted in 1950 by Donald M. Towner, it seems appropriate that a more recent search to identify these qualities be undertaken
