The impact of a human sexuality program on sex-related knowledge, socially acceptable terminology, and attitudes of psychiatrically hospitalized children

Includes bibliographical references (pages 44-49)The present study utilized a pre test post test design to examine the impact of a six week human sexuality program on psychiatrically hospitalized children. Sex related knowledge, socially acceptable terminology, and attitudes of 25 eight to thirteen year old children who completed the course were compared to 25 eight to thirteen year old children who were not exposed to a human sexuality program.\ud The results of the study indicated that children who participated in the human sexuality program: 1)showed significantly greater increments of sex related knowledge than the children in the control group; 2)demonstrated significantly greater acquisition of socially acceptable terms than the children in the control group; and 3)showed a significantly greater shift in attitude toward a liberal direction than the control group children
