Includes bibliographical references (pages 28-29)The purpose of this study is to show that special education teachers would demonstrate a higher empathic response than general education teachers. The design for this study was an analysis of variance between the groups divided by special education teachers and general education teachers, sex, age, length of time teaching. The statistical data did not support the hypotheses although a difference in mean scores was noted with special education teachers demonstrating higher empathic response. Some suggestions for further research included using a different population of teachers in school settings.
