Includes bibliographical references (page 47)The trend towards using plywood diaphragms\ud as an economical method of providing for lateral\ud forces in large masonry and concrete buildings\ud have created the need for conveniently predicting\ud and controlling diaphragm deflections to insure\ud structural stability of the supporting walls.\ud This report presents a method of predicting\ud and controlling diaphragm deflections by limiting\ud the deflection caused by nail slippage. Based\ud upon design experience a theoretical approach\ud was used to develop a new equation for this\ud purpose. This new equation is simple and\ud convenient to use and it give accurate results\ud as illustrated in this report
