The methodology\ud used is biographical and iconological. Hopper was\ud an artist who persistently and emphatically identified\ud his work with his sense of self. Therefore, the biographical\ud account is of importance. The iconological aspect of\ud the study is found in the examination of the artist's use\ud of the window in his paintings and prints.\ud Within the biographical account of Hopper, emphasis\ud is given to his personality and psychological\ud make-up.
