California laws relating to minors : an overview

Includes bibliographical references (pages 127-128)Not since the excellent, but largely outdated, Second\ud Edition of The Juvenile Laws of California, Triska, Research\ud Publishing Company (Los Angeles, 1950), has anyone\ud attempted to present a summary discussion of laws and procedures\ud relating specifically to minors in California. This\ud work is an attempt to do that. It covers four main topics,\ud Status, Rights, Privileges and Liabilities Relating to Minors;\ud Superior Court Proceedings Relating to Minors; Child\ud Support, Custody and Visitation; and The Juvenile Justice\ud System. Covered are such topics as laws and procedures relating\ud to contract, tort, inheritance, driving, working, and other such rights and privileges; adoptions, guardianships,\ud emancipation proceedings, paternity suits, and other\ud court proceedings relating to minors; custody, support and\ud visitation matters; and juvenile court wardship proceedings\ud such as juvenile delinquency, incorrigibles, truants, runaways,\ud and abandoned, abused and neglected children.\ud The work places a dual emphasis on laws, including\ud both statutory and case law, and procedures, and refers the\ud reader to extensive statutory and case law materials for\ud ready reference and further study and perusal.\ud Not dealt with in this work are two other important\ud areas of California laws relating to minors: school law\ud and offenses by and against minors, which, it is hoped,\ud will be the subject of a follow-up study
