Includes bibliographical references (page 16)This paper presents a comprehensive report of shear\ud effect on shallow spherical shells of uniform thickness.\ud It is applied to shells with or without a central hole and\ud is based on series representation of normal displacement\ud and stress function.\ud The result of the effect of shear deformation is\ud compared with the classical bending theory. It shows the\ud influence of geometric parameters on the result. For a\ud certain class of shell geometries the effect of shear\ud deformation is shown to be significant
