Writing and illustrating picture books for children

Includes bibliographical references (pages 97-98)The primary objective in this project is to develop a\ud clear background and establish a beginning foundation for\ud understanding the complete process in the production of a\ud child's picture book.\ud My long term goal is to ultimately become published\ud and recognized as an author/illustrator of children's\ud picture books.\ud After deciding on this career, and beginning to delve\ud into the feasibility it held for me, I discovered that\ud children's picture book illustration is more than a form\ud of decoration, it is a complete disciplined art embodying\ud a variety of creative talents, mechanical techniques,\ud development of a business sense and acute awareness of\ud the real and fantasy worlds depicted through a careful\ud marriage of text and illustrations for the very young\ud child.\ud As a novice to this field, I have accumulated useful\ud background and technical information in my approaching steps towards the goal of becoming published.\ud The purpose of this project is to compile this\ud information so that it would be useful to others interested\ud in this particular art form and to introduce my first\ud attempt as an author/illustrator by the depiction of my\ud own picture book concept
