Perceptions of Agricultural Sustainability Held by California Secondary Agriculture Teachers

Modern agriculture is faced with many daunting challenges in its attempt to \ud meet global food demand. Agricultural sustainability could be a key component of \ud the solution. The purpose of this study was to explore and describe the perceptions \ud of agricultural sustainability held by California secondary agricultural teachers. \ud Perceptions and self-perceived knowledge levels of sustainable agriculture were \ud examined using a research redeveloped instrument. A simple random sample of the \ud population of California secondary agricultural teachers was used for this \ud investigation. The study found teachers perceived themselves to be knowledgeable \ud regarding sustainable agriculture practices. Additionally, perceptions held by \ud teachers suggested a positive view toward agricultural sustainability, but may be \ud misinformed on a few concepts relating to agriculture???s impact on the environment
