Acculturation as a predictor of mental health and psychological distress among Latino adults

My Thesis analysis seeks to highlight some of the factors that influence acculturation as a predictor of physical and mental health to psychological distress among Latino older adults ages 55-85. This research was a quantitative study utilizing secondary data from the California Health Interview Survey CHIS 2011-2012 adult questioner. The findings were obtained through using Bivariate and Multiple Regression Analysis. The results showed that there was a positive correlation between self-rated and mental health to psychological distress. Throughout history there has been a lot of research that has been focused on the negative side effects of acculturation and the psychological conditions that older adults Latinos experience, yet limited research has not been explored on the need for availability and accessibility of Spanish speaking culturally competent healthcare providers in order to assist the Latino community with quality and effective mental health services
