Employee's environmental evaluation: influences on personal needs by an organization

Includes bibliographical references (pages 42-43)It was believed that those environmental relations which may be\ud involved in determining what type of individuals stay with a particular\ud organization and form the basis of the "loyal" workforce could be\ud tested and categorized. For testing, the Employee's Environmental\ud Evaluation (E-CUBE) test instrument was created. For the categories,\ud three theoretical scales were developed to measure an individual's perception\ud of his or her working environment. These scales were developed\ud from Karen Horney's classical theory of Human Inner Conflicts. One hundred and fifty subjects were tested at an industrial\ud organization. The questionnaires were scored using a true-false array.\ud The results were then intercorrelated using the Pearson Moment Product\ud Correlation, or stepwise multiple regression analysis, contained in\ud Northwestern University's Statistical Package for the Social Sciences\ud (SPSS).\ud Results of the first statistical analysis indicated that most of\ud thirty-five items contained in the questionnaire contributed to the\ud correlation predictor of each of the individual sub-scales and the intrasub-scale correlation of the instrument in total. Significant\ud predictor analysis and item manipulation enabled the original test\ud instrument to be reduced to twenty questions and still retain a 60%\ud confidence factor that a respondent could be classified into one of the\ud three sub-scales. \ud The statistical analysis has confirmed beyond a doubt that the\ud Employee's Environmental Evaluation test instrument can classify those\ud personal needs which may be involved in determining what kinds of\ud individuals stay with a particular organization. The E-CUBE test\ud instrument is the first step in matching environmental relationships\ud between an organization and its employees, and it offers an employer an\ud important "tool" to measure an employee's perception of" belongingness.
