This research reports information from semi-structured interviews with 14 northern\ud California Filipinos to explore the impact of methamphetamine use on Filipino American\ud families. The interviews examine how the social connections of Filipino American drug\ud users are influenced by class and generational status. Drug users become involved in\ud social networks that facilitate drug use, and cases of recovery occur among users when\ud they change their networks. I hypothesize that drug users transfer cultural traits from their families to the drug user networks. User social networks within social class groups\ud generate ethnic solidarity and highlight the existence of a shared culture that plays an\ud adaptive role in aiding survival, ...
