Suplementos alimentares: avaliação multielementar e influência do consumo por praticantes de atividade física

A determinação multielementar dos suplementos e dos biomonitores foi realizada por análise por ativação neutrônica, método k0, aplicando a metodologia de amostras grandes. Para as análises, foi utilizado o reator TRIGA MARK I IPR-R1 localizado no CDTN/CNEN, Belo Horizonte. As concentrações obtidas em onze marcas de suplementos alimentares foram comparadas com os valores apresentados nos rótulos dos produtos analisados. As concentrações também foram comparadas com aquelas máximas previstas pelas legislações brasileiras vigentes e a valores recomendados por órgãos internacionais de saúde e segurança alimentar. Verificou-se que a maior parte dos suplementos não possui informações a respeito dos macro e micronutrientes que os constitui, em suas embalagens. As informações, quando presentes, em sua maioria diferem daquelas obtidas experimentalmente. Quanto à análise dos biomonitores, amostras de cabelos de três grupos distintos foram coletados: o grupo comparativo constituído por indivíduos sedentários, que não praticavam atividade física e não ingeriam suplementos; o grupo que praticava atividade física e não consumia suplementos; e o grupo que praticava atividade física e fazia uso de suplementos alimentares. Dentre os três grupos, o Zn foi o elemento comum a todas as amostras de biomonitores analisadas neste estudo. Os elementos Au, Br, Na e Zn foram detectados em todas as amostras do grupo comparativo; Au, Br, Cr e Zn nas amostras do grupo praticante de atividade física que não consumia suplementos; enquanto que Cr, Na e Zn foram detectados em todas as amostras de indivíduos que realizavam exercícios e faziam uso de suplementos. Ao se aplicar a análise de variância baseando-se nas concentrações elementares nos biomonitores, verificou-se, nesta amostragem, que os grupos que praticam atividade física eram similares independentemente de consumirem ou não de suplementos alimentares; entretanto, eram diferentes do grupo comparativo.The purpose of this study was to verify if the consume of dietary supplements has been contributing to increase the content of essential and non-essential inorganic chemical elements in physically active individuals, evaluating hair as biomonitor. The neutron activation analysis, k0-method, using larger sample, was applied on multielementar concentration determination in dietary supplements and hair biomonitors using the TRIGA MARK I IPR-R1 reactor located at CDTN/CNEN, Belo Horizonte. The elemental concentrations obtained in eleven brands of dietary supplements were compared with values displayed on the labels of the products. The results were also compared with maximum values foreseen in the Brazilian legislations and with the recommended values by health and food safety international agencies. It was found that most supplements have no information about their macro and micronutrients composition in their packs. The information, when present, is different from those obtained experimentally. Regarding the biomonitor analysis, hair samples from three different groups were collected: the comparative group, composed by sedentary individuals who did not take supplements; the group composed by physically active individuals and did not consume supplements; and other group composed by physically active individuals who made use of dietary supplements. The elemental analysis showed that Zn was obtained in all samples. The elements Au, Br, Na and Zn were determined in all samples of Comparative Group; Au, Br, Cr and Zn in physically active individuals group and non-consumers of supplements and Cr, Na and Zn, in physically active individuals group and consumers of supplements. Variance test, basing on elemental concentration in biomonitors pointed out that, in this sampling, the groups compounded by physically active individuals were similar regardless of whether or not they consume dietary supplements; however, they were different from the comparative group
