The bachelor of music education programs are different between China and America. The Chinese music education system is characterized by a rigid structure enforced by traditional cultural views. On the other hand, the American system is marked by flexibility and influenced by the idea of personal freedom. By comparing between the two systems, one can better understand how to modify the Chinese system and incorporate practices emphasized in the American system. This thesis proposes components that should be kept and others that should be removed from the current Chinese music education system.
