Its object of study is the Amazônida’s level of knowledge with regards to the materials and techniques used by it when it comes to the art of building within the diversity of the Amazon, putting the architect’s point of view on top of people’s knowledge which comprises primary techniques when building their own home, where the Indian gave his contribution part. Thus, has Severiano Porto realized that the Amazonida had a relevant comprehension of the Amazon’s diversity and a better adaptation to the region's own characteristics, the severity of the climate, the water dynamics and the interface with the environment? Has this Amazonian knowledge influenced the architectural propositions in the region? To answer those questions, the goal of the research was to contextualize the Ethno-knowledge and the architecture of Severiano Porto on the development of projects and drawings on and for Amazon, suitable for its tropical climate - hot and humid - and the high temperatures. As for methodology, a qualitative approach was used based fundamentally on two inseparable actions, the methods: historical and observational, methods and techniques that shall give subsidies for a contextualized analysis of the knowledge of the local people and the modern architectural techniques used by the known “forest architect” or “Amazonian architect” in his works around the region. As for the results, we identified a way of conceiving and constructing that seeks to interact with the environment. The architect adapts to the region's economic and cultural conditions through available materials as academic learners alongside with the labor and local knowledge. The Amazonida’s wisdom and its relation with the specificities of the Amazon were actually the knowledge given by previous generations, a non-scientific constructing knowledge that does fit to the bio-climatic strategies, the humid and hot weather, a heritage of materials and strategies of constructions that tells a lot about what it means to live in Amazon its tradition and mores.A pesquisa intitulada “O etnoconhecimento e a arquitetura de Severiano Porto” busca trazer subsídios bibliográficos, históricos e estratégias projetuais utilizadas pelo amazônida e pelo arquiteto em suas concepções de projetar na Amazônia. Tem como objeto de estudo o conhecimento do amazônida quanto aos materiais e técnicas por ele utilizados na arte construir em meio à diversidade amazônica, destacando o olhar do arquiteto em meio ao conhecimento do povo que emprega técnicas primárias na construção de sua habitação, onde o indígena teve sua parcela de contribuição. Sendo assim, Severiano Porto teve a percepção que o amazônida possuía uma relevante compreensão da diversidade amazônica e uma melhor adaptação às características próprias da região, ao rigor do clima, à dinâmica das águas e a relação com o meio? Esse conhecimento amazônico influenciou sobre suas propostas arquitetônicas na região? Para responder a essas questões, a pesquisa teve o objetivo de contextualizar o etnoconhecimento e a arquitetura de Severiano Porto no desenvolvimento dos projetos e desenhos na e para a Amazônia adequados ao seu clima tropical - quente e úmido - e às altas temperaturas. Quanto à metodologia, utilizou-se a abordagem qualitativa baseando-se fundamentalmente em duas ações indissociáveis, os métodos: histórico e observacional, métodos e técnicas que darão subsídios para a análise contextualizada do conhecimento do povo local e as técnicas modernas arquitetônicas utilizadas pelo considerado “arquiteto da floresta” ou “arquiteto da Amazônia” em suas obras na região. Quanto aos resultados, identificamos um modo de conceber e de construir que procura interagir com o ambiente. O arquiteto se adequa às condições econômicas e culturais da região através dos materiais a ele disponível e emprega as tecnologias aprendidas na academia aliadas à mão de obra e ao conhecimento local. A sabedoria do amazônida e a sua ligação com as especificidades da Amazônia, são conhecimentos recebidos por gerações anteriores, um conhecimento não científico de construir e que muito se adequa às estratégias bioclimáticas para o clima quente e úmido, uma herança de materiais e estratégias de construção que conta sobre as tradições e os costumes de viver na Amazônia
