The extant literature examining the effects of maximizing (i.e., the tendency to make\ud decisions based on optimality) on well-being overwhelmingly suggests that maximizers,\ud compared to satisficers, are less happy, less satisfied with their lives, show more\ud symptoms of depression, experience more negative affect and regret, and are willing to\ud sacrifice more resources in attempts to seek out the ideal alternative.
