The impact of veterans returning with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder from the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars is a serious consequence which needs to be addressed. This study seeks to explain how veterans narrate their experiences and the effects of social support systems once they have returned from such a distressing environment. The study seeks to understand how social support systems affect the experiences of Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans and their beliefs regarding PTSD upon return and acclimatization. The transformation of PTSD throughout history is addressed as well as recent theories related to recovery. A qualitative approach with a narrative style is utilized to conduct research.
