Includes bibliographical references (page 43)The method of influence coefficients and relaxation was utilized in a computer program designed to perform a two dimensional deflection analysis of underbuoy hose systems. This iteration technique proved to converge rapidly to an accurate solution of the large deflections inherent in the normal usage of the long flexible hose strings. The program was compared with a previously used finite element program designed to accomplish the same task. As a result of the comparison between the two programs, the finite element program was examined more closely and was found to be unreliable.
