Reading of text written in mathematics education: Textual comprehension in teacher-student interaction

The research inserts a qualitative field approach with observation, records of the Mathematics classes and questionnaire application. The data were generated through the observations and class recordings regarding the content Divisibility, in which the teacher made her presentation based on reading the written text of Mathematics. The theoretical assumptions of Mathematics Education, Reading and Mathematical Language guided the analysis of the corpus of this research, verifying how the reading used by the Mathematics teacher in explaining the content Divisibility interfered in the students' participation in this content by the students, also, they are faced with understanding mathematical language. The discussion reveals the importance of working with reading in Mathematics classes, fundamentally necessary for the formation of the student reader, since the teacher of this discipline is also a reader trainer. The study allows recommendations regarding the reading used in the classroom to understand the Mathematical language referring to the content Divisibility, in which students tend to participate in class by expressing their mathematical reasoning, especially through the language spoken among students to deal with content in the classroom.Esta pesquisa analisa a leitura realizada pela professora de Matemática para tratar o conteúdo Divisibilidade numa turma do 6° Ano do Ensino Fundamental de uma escola pública, observando estratégias de compreensão textual construídas na interação entre professor- alunos/alunos-professor/alunos-alunos por meio de perguntas/respostas. A pesquisa insere numa abordagem qualitativa de campo com observação, registros das aulas de Matemática e aplicação de questionário. Os dados foram gerados por meio das observações e gravações das aulas referentes ao conteúdo Divisibilidade, em que a professora realizou sua exposição baseada na leitura do texto escrito da Matemática. Os pressupostos teóricos da Educação Matemática, Leitura e Linguagem Matemática nortearam a análise do corpus desta pesquisa, verificando como a leitura utilizada pela professora de Matemática ao explicar o conteúdo Divisibilidade interferiu na participação dos alunos deste conteúdo por parte dos alunos, igualmente, verificando dificuldades por eles enfrentadas ao compreenderem à linguagem Matemática. A discussão revela a importância do trabalho com a leitura nas aulas de Matemática, fundamentalmente necessária à formação do aluno leitor, visto que o professor desta disciplina também é um formador de leitor. O estudo permite recomendações referentes à leitura utilizada na sala de aula para compreender a linguagem Matemática referente ao conteúdo Divisibilidade, em que os alunos tendem a participar das aulas ao expressar seu raciocínio matemático, sobretudo por meio da linguagem falada entre os alunos para tratar do conteúdo em sala de aula
