Population structure and reproductive aspects of a Ameroglossum sp. (Scrophulariaceae) population on an inselberg in the tropic semiarid of Paraíba

The vegetation structure of an inselberg was characterized, and the reproductive systems of an endemic species of this ecosystem (Ameroglossum sp. nv.) was analyzed in an inselberg (35 ° 52'50 .3''W 7 ° 10.8 S'') located in Timbaúba Farm, Lagoa de Pedra District, Esperança City - PB. The method used was 5 x 5m plots, and phytosociological parameters were analyzed and pollination tests was applied, which were marked 30 flowers for each test, natural pollination, self-pollination, and geitonogamy. We recorded 21 species belonging to 16 families by the phytosociological methods, and the most representative families were: Orchidaceae (three species), Apocynaceae (two) Euphorbiaceae (two) and Cactaceae (two). Among the species found, Enchorilium spectabile was the species that showed the highest value of importance because it covered extensive areas on the inselberg, other species that stood out were: Euphorbia brasiliensis (41), Anthurium petrofilium (27), Borreria verticillata (22), C. polyphyllum (15), M. carunceroides (10), that was found in all plots with Ameroglossum sp. nv. Demonstrating that these species have a beneficial association, because they form large clusters that difficult the passage of animals, while forming a more wet and shaded place on the rock. The natural pollination tests had a fruit set of 100%, while the tests of cross-pollination between individuals of different plants showed that the fruit was 82% but for the geitonogamy test was 80%, but the self-pollination tests were not obtained any results. Thus, it is concluded that this species has pollination mechanisms that increase genetic variability between individuals in the population that facilitates the adaptation of this species to the inselberg environment.A vegetação de inselbergs atualmente é utilizada como modelo para estudos por apresentar uma diversidade vegetacional de grande interesse para os cientistas de varias áreas, como botânica, genética e especialmente na área de ecologia. Nesse trabalho objetivou-se caracterizar a estrutura vegetacional de um inselberg e analisar os sistemas reprodutivos de uma espécie endêmica desse ecossistema, o Ameroglossum sp. nv. localizado em um inselberg na Fazenda Timbaúba, Distrito de Lagoa de Pedra, Município de Esperança- PB. O método utilizado foi o de parcelas para vegetação herbácea, onde foram analisados os parâmetros fitossociológicos e aplicados os testes de polinização nos quais foram marcadas 30 flores para cada teste, polinização natural, autopolinização, geitonogamia e xenogamia. Foram registradas através dos métodos de florística e fitossociologia 25 espécies, pertencentes a 18 famílias, onde as mais representativas foram Cactaceae (três espécies),. Orchidaceae (três espécies), Apocynaceae (duas espécies) e Euphorbiaceae (duas espécies). Dentre as espécies encontradas o Enchorilium spectabile (98) foi à espécie que apresentou o maior valor de importância (88,73), recobrindo extensas áreas do inselberg, outras espécies que se destacaram foram Euphorbia brasiliensis (41), Anthurium petrofilium (27), Borreria verticillata (22), Cyrtopodium polyphyllum (15), Marsdenia carunceroides (10), que se encontraram em todas as parcelas junto ao Ameroglossum sp. nv. demonstrando que estas espécies possuem uma associação benéfica, pois formam grandes aglomerados que dificultam a passagem de animais, ao mesmo tempo que formam um ambiente mais úmido e sombreado sobre a rocha. Os testes de polinização natural proporcionaram uma frutificação de 100%; ao passo que os testes de polinização manual entre indivíduos de plantas diferentes mostraram que a frutificação foi de 82%, já para o teste de geitonogamia obteve-se 80%, porém para os testes de autopolinização resultado foi nulo. Com isso conclui-se que o mecanismo de polinização natural utilizado pela espécie aumenta a variabilidade genética entre os indivíduos da população, isto provavelmente facilita a adaptação dessa espécie ao ambiente de inselberg
