Nosso experimento consta de três capítulos: no primeiro buscamos enfatizar a importância da leitura literária para o desenvolvimento afetivo e efetivo do ser humano, a significância do horizonte de expectativas para se estabelecer uma boa leitura; o segundo capítulo é dedicado ao estudo de alguns temas como o ciúme, a rivalidade, o incesto, a condição sócio-econômica, o exílio e a mulher no romance Dois Irmãos; no terceiro e último capítulo apresentamos as vivências do romance em sala de aula. Do ponto de vista metodológico, procedeu-se uma investigação detida sobre leitura literária e concepção da experiência estética tendo como suporte as reflexões de Jouve (2002), Jauss (1978), Zilberman (1998) Compagnon (2001), entre outros. Sobre os aspectos temáticos abordados presentes na obra nos valemos das concepções de Bosi (2007), Freud (1989/1996), Hall (2003) além de outros estudiosos. Utilizamos o Diário de leituras sob a perspectiva de Machado (2007) por entendermos que este instrumento tem como função um diálogo entre o leitor e a obra que está sendo lida. A realização de um experimento com jovens de uma escola pública indicou que é possível trabalhar um texto literário na sua totalidade, que os leitores conseguiram vivenciar a produção, a percepção e a comunicação da obra literária, mostrou também a necessidade de um trabalho metodológico diferenciado, que escapa aos modelos consagrados pelos livros didáticos. Permeia todo o trabalho o pressuposto que a leitura de obras com qualidade estética legitimada é relevante ao desenvolvimento humano, que a leitura literária consegue estabelecer referências que permitem ao leitor organizar experiências psíquicas vividas ou não, organizar e/ou reorganizar sentimentos, estabelecer uma ponte entre ficção e realidade na maneira de como vemos o mundo.This research discusses, from the reading of the work Dois Irmãos (2000), by the Amazonian contemporary writer Milton Hatoum how it is possible to work the novel in full considering the reception in front of the themes present in the work, the difficulties presented in the reading process and the experience with an experience Aesthetics in the classroom. We use the Journal of Reading from the perspective of Machado (2007) because we understand that this instrument has as a function a dialogue between the reader and the work being read. The realization of an experiment with young people of a public school indicated that it is possible to work a literary text in its entirety, that the readers managed to experience the production, perception and communication of the literary work, also showed the necessity of a methodological work differentiated, Which escapes the models consecrated by textbooks. The work presupposes that the reading of works with legitimated aesthetic quality is relevant to human development, that literary reading manages to establish references that allow the reader to organize psychic experiences lived or not, organize and / or reorganize feelings, establish a bridge between Fiction and reality in the way we see the world
