Os índices de vulnerabilidade foram considerados altos, agravados por fatores de risco como a falta de esgotamento sanitário e a proximidade com uma pedreira em funcionamento, o lixão municipal, e o presídio do Serrotão, o maior do estado. As informações obtidas através de questionários aplicados, visitas e entrevistas com os moradores, associadas a dados bibliográficos, carta topográfica e produtos de sensores remotos, permitiram a estruturação de uma base de dados georreferenciados. O cruzamento de dados levantados com o auxílio do software SPRING 4.1, permitiu a confecção de mapas temáticos, com os quais se pode fazer um comparativo temporal sobre a evolução da degradação ambiental da área em estudo.The purpose of this work is the study of the degradation and the social, economic and ambient vulnerability generated by the disordered urban growth on a rural area, where was implanted the Mutirão, a residential set for a low income community, in the southwestern handle of the city of Campina Grande, Paraíba. The vulnerability indices had been considered high, aggravated for risk factors. The information gotten through applied questionnaires, visits and interviews with the inhabitants, associates the bibliographical data, topographical maps and products of remote sensors, permitted to create a geo-referenced database. The data overlap raised with the aid of software SPRING 4.1, allowed the confection of thematic maps, which can make a comparative degree on the evolution of the ambient degradation of the studied area
