O livreiro José Pedrosa possibilitou o acesso à cultura letrada em Campina Grande, através das estratégias de comércio e sortimentos. No primeiro capítulo, busca-se associar a trajetória da Livraria Pedrosa às transformações ocorridas em Campina Grande nas décadas de 1950 e início dos anos 1960. Na rua Maciel Pinheiro o estabelecimento livresco assistiu ao fortalecimento da presença de sujeitos sociais campinense que adquiriam sua distinção, os letrados, o frequentador de livrarias, 'os filhos do século das luzes!', 'os filhos da grande nação!'1, e o estreitamento dos laços nas redes de sociabilidades intelectuais da cidade. No segundo, através dos registros nos jornais e as propagandas da Livraria Pedrosa nos jornais Diário da Borborema e O Rebate, busca-se pensar, como foram gestados os hábitos da cultura letrada em Campina Grande, costumes estes que, mais tarde, na década de 1950, já naturalizados e imperceptíveis, fariam da Livraria Pedrosa com o Edifício do livro um dos principais pontos de difusão do livro e da leitura na cidade.The bookstore Pedrosa was inaugurated in 1953, excelled in the cultural history of Campina Grande as a bookstore dedicated to the sale of books - textbooks and University-in Paraíba.
