Effect of spacing and irrigation management on the development and production of herbaceous cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) in the municipality of Boqueirão, PB.

No. of bitstreams: 1 MARIA ZÉLIA BEZERRA PINTO - DISSERTAÇÃO PPGECA 1989..pdf: 11604767 bytes, checksum: 1b50d8ca4c60d95cee820e923f61b411 (MD5) Previous issue date: 1989-09-29O presente trabalho teve como objetivo estudar o efeito do espaçamento e manejo da irrigação sobre o comportamento do algodoeiro herbáceo {Gossypium hirsutum L.), cultivar CNPA Precoce 1. 0 experimento f o i conduzido em uma área do Município de Boqueirão, Estado da Paraíba, em um solo Bruno Não Cálcico, de textura média, durante o período de outubro de 1988 a janeiro de 1989. 0 delineamento empregado foi um fatorial, em blocos inteiramente casualizados, com 3 (três) repetições, sendo que os tratamentos consistiram de fileiras de algodão com espaçamentos de 0,5; 0,8; 1,0 e 2,0 metros ( fileiras duplas) e dois manejos de irrigação: sulcos irrigados continuamente e sulcos irrigados alternadamente. A análise dos resultados mostrou que a produção do algodoeiro dependeu principalmente do manejo da água, constatando-se um aumento na produção, de 33,371, quando os sulcos foram irrigados continuamente. 0 espaçamento de 0,8 metros entre fileitas foi o mais produtivo (8,75 kg/parcela de algodão em caroço) e diferiu significativamente dos demais tratamentos pelo teste de Tukey, a 5% de probabilidade. Os espaçamentos de 0,5 e 1,0 metro diferiram estatisticamente entre s i , apresentando produtividades de 8,12 e 6,39 kg/parcela de algodão em caroço, respectivamente. 0 espaçamento de 2,0 metros, com fileiras duplas, foi o que apresentou menor produtividade (5,00 kg/parcela). Não se constatou diferença significativa entre altura de plantas em relação aos tratamentos estudados. 0 diâmetro do caule variou significativamente apenas no espaçamento mais estreito (0,5 metros entre fileiras). Com relação às características tecnológicas da fibra, verificou-se diferença significativa entre a uniformidade da fibra para os tratamentos de manejo de água nos sulcos. A percentagem, a resistência e o comprimento de fibra não apresentaram diferenças significativas entre qualquer tratamento. A analise econômica revelou que o uso de sulcos espaçados de 1,0 metro e irrigados continuadamente, constituiu a alternativa econômica mais viável.The purpose of t h i s work was to study the effect of the irrigation mana gement on the behavior of the cotton (Go&òyp-Lum hÁASutum L.) cultivar CNPA Precoce 1. The experiment was conducted i n Boqueirão State of Parai ba on a Non-Calcic Bron s o i l , medium textured during the period of Octo ber 1988 to January 1989. The experimental design used was a factorial, randomized blocks with 3 (three) replicates. The treatments were row spacings of 0,5m; 0,8m; 1,0m and 2,0 meters (double row) and two kind of irrigation managements: continuous irrigation and alternated irrigation. The analysis of the results showed that the cotton production depended mainly on the water management, being observed an increase of production of 33,371 with the continuous irrigation management, when compared with the alternated irrigation. The row space of 0,8m was the most productive (8,75 kg/lot) and it was significantly different of the other spacings. The spacings a 0,5 and 1,0m showed st atistic differences among them showing a produtivity of 8,12 and 6,39 kg/lot, respectively. The spacing of 2,0m, with double cotton row, showed the least productivity (5.00kg /lot ). There was not difference among height of plants for all the treatments analized. The stem diameter differed significantly among water treatments for the narrowest spacing (0,5m between lines). With respect to the techonologic characteristics of the cotton fiber, there was signi ficant difference of fiber uniformity among the water management treat ments. The was not significant difference for fiber, resistance, and length of fiber for any studied treatment.
