Cemetery, ants and hunting: reading with suspense in Lygia Fagundes Telles.

A metodologia adotada para a leitura do corpus foi a descritivo-analítica. O suporte teórico que respalda a relação do leitor com os textos selecionados teve nos autores Jauss, Zilberman, Iser e Lima seus principais referentes. Nosso trabalho está dividido em três capítulos. No primeiro, analisamos três contos da autora paulista. No conto "As formigas", as protagonistas se veem diante de um caso estranho e insólito em que pequenas formigas surgem na calada da noite para restituir um esqueleto de anão, o mistério se instaura para conferir uma atmosfera fantástica dentro da narrativa, o espaço sombrio e as simbologias corroboram para esse procedimento. Em "A caçada", a personagem masculina se vê diante de uma crise de identidade, por isso retorna ao passado para tentar reverter sua crise, mas, surpreendentemente, acaba sendo vítima de uma caçada, esse acontecimento inusitado legitima uma intenção surreal no conto. No conto "Venha ver o pôr-do-sol", as personagens vivem um drama trivial de uma relação amorosa que culmina em tragédia. Os discursos ambíguos e, por vezes, alegóricos mascaram uma verdade aparente. No segundo capítulo, apresentamos dados da experiência de leitura desses três contos com o grupo de colaboradores, com destaque para a receptividade e os impactos de leitura dessas narrativas de suspense pelos/nos sujeitos pesquisados. No terceiro capítulo, analisamos as produções textuais dos colaboradores sobre o final do conto "Venha ver o pôr-do-sol" observando os procedimentos adotados pelo grupo para sugerirem o final da história. Parte do grupo seguiu um viés fantasmagórico e outros preferiram adotar um viés romântico para o encontro das personagens em um cemitério abandonado. Os resultados obtidos nesta dissertação indicam que é possível despertar o gosto pela leitura literária, mesmo se tratando de textos como esses.This work aimed at analysing the receptiveness of first year high school students of a public school in Catolé do Rocha - PB to suspense stories written by Lygia Fagundes Telles. The analytical-descriptive methodology was adopted for reading the corpus. Jauss, Zilberman, Iser e Lima were the main authors researched to base the theories which account for the relationship between the readers and the selected texts. Our work is divided into three chapters. In the first one, three short stories written by the author native of Sao Paulo were analysed. In the short story "As formigas" - The ants - the protagonists are faced with a strange and rare case in which small ants appear in the middle of the night to reconstitute the skeleton of a dwarf, the mystery is set in an atmosphere of fantasy within the narrative, the dark setting and the symbols are the main means of this procedure. In "A caçada" - The hunt - the male character is suffering from an identity crisis, because of that he travels to the past to solve his crisis, but, unfortunately, he ends up being the victim of a hunt, this unexpected event legitimises the surreal intention in the story. In the story "Venha ver o pôr-do-sol" - Come and see the sunset - the characters live a trivial romantic relationship drama which ends in tragedy. The ambiguous, and sometimes, allegorical dialogues unveil the actual truth. In the second chapter, we present data collected from the students reading experience, highlighting the receptiveness and the impact which was caused in the readers by the suspense of the narratives. In the third chapter, we analysed the students' written production about the end of the story "Venha ver o pôr-do-sol" observing the procedures adopted by the group when suggesting a closing to the story. Some of the participants followed a ghostly pattern while others chose to trace a romantic route for the characters encounter in an abandoned cemetery. The results achieved in this dissertation demonstrate that it is possible to arouse students interests by literature, even when dealing with texts like the ones we chose
