Nesta relação, ressalta-se o aspecto ideológico; portanto, a estrutura sindical propriamente dita é compreendida como parte de um modelo teórico. Na busca de uma compreensão mais ampla de como ocorreu o processo de institucionalização do movimento camponês pelo Estado, foi necessário analisar o movimento sindical em contraposição a outras formas de organização camponesas - as Ligas - bem como o envolvimento de outras forças sociais no processo, como a Igreja Católica e o PCB. O período compreendido no nosso estudo vai do final da década de 50 e início de 60, período de amadurecimento das Ligas Camponesas e fundação de sindicatos, até o final da década de 70, época de consolidação do modelo corporativo no meio rural. Escolhemos como universo de pesquisa a Zona Canavieira da Paraíba porque a cana-de-açúcar se constitui na principal atividade agrícola do Estado, onde se localiza o moderno parque industrial sucro-alcooleiro, mas, sobretudo, porque essa região tem-se constituído, historicamente, no grande palco de conflitos sociais, que, a partir da década de 50, tem-se aprofundado e generalizado. Em nossa pesquisa, privilegiamos reconstituir a memória do movimento social através de depoimentos de alguns dos principais personagens (dirigentes e assessores) que fizeram, em parte, a história do sindicalismo rural paraibano, assim como através de documentos produzidos pelo próprio movimento sindical nas suas diversas fases. Para a construção do quadro mais amplo da análise, recorremos, de um lado, a alguns autores que tratam da história dos movimentos sociais no campo e, do outro, aqueles que enfocam aspectos mais puramente ideológicos e teóricos.This dissertation retakes the track of the rural syndicalism in Paraiba, focusing its relation to the State. In this relationship, the ideological aspecto is emphasized; therefore, the syndical structure, itself, is seen as part of a theoretical model. On searching for a wider understanding on how the institucionalization of the peasant movement by the State occurred, it was necessary to analyse the syndical movement as opposed to other peasant organizations - the "Ligas" - as well as the involvement of other social forces in the process, such as the Catholic Church and the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB). This research comprises a period that goes from the and of 50's to the leginning of the 60's, when there was the maturation of the "Ligas Camponesas" and the foundation of solidification of the corporative model in the rural envioronment. We have chosen the "Canavieira" area of Paraíba to be the corpusof this work because sugar cane is the main agricultural activity of the State, where the modern industrial "sucro alcooleiro" area is situated, but, above all, because this region has ecen historically considered as a great focus of social conflicts that have ecen diepened and taken as a whok sina the 50's. In our research we emphasize the memory of the social movement through the testimony of some of the main characters (leaders and assistants) who biult up the history of the paraibano rural suyndicalism, as well as, through documents written by the syndical movement itself in its several stages. In order to give the analysis a wider view, we have consulted some authors who deal with the history of the social movements in the country as well as those who focus just on ideological and theretical aspect
