Includes bibliographical references (pages 53-59)A study of potential hearing loss and the effectiveness of hearing protection devices was conducted at a large Southern California industrial complex. It was found that no significant hearing loss had occurred for those people working in high noise areas (above 90 dBA) whether or not hearing protection was used by the employees. Also discussed are the published attenuation specifications of the ear plugs and their application to the industrial environment. It is recommended that a comprehensive educational program be followed to insure the proper use of ear protection
