The reason for the proposed study is: Does participation in high school sports impact academic achievement and healthy lifestyles? In order to answer this question I conducted a field study to understand the relationship between athletics and academic achievement along with healthy lifestyles decision making. The research involved collecting data such as age height, weight, Body Fat Percentage and grade point average from freshmen at South San Francisco High School. The data collected concluded that participation in high school sports does help curb obesity and leads to a higher grade point average, which leads to a better academic experience for the student during their high school years
