Curse Tablets and the Romanization of Britain focuses on the underutilized\ud defixiones of Britain in order to better understand the social history of Roman\ud Britain. The Greco-Roman practice of creating curse tablets was adopted by the\ud Britons, but with significant modifications, including their use, language, and\ud physical properties. The tablets indicated that the Romano-British religion\ud retained far more of its Celtic nature than previously thought. The tablets also\ud give rare insight into the daily life of Roman Britain
