Much of the literature surrounding the experiences of queer women1 revolves around the nonconforming characteristics of their lives, such as their sexuality, choice in partners, masculine gender presentation, or connection with a gay/queer community. A small amount of scholarly material details the conforming attributes these women possess, especially those of women of color.
